Allen played for Florida State University in college, and was picked in the Tertiary circular (83rd overall) in the 2001 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. He played trinity games in the period of his cub year, & was late allocated to the Houston Texans in the 2002 expansion draft. But, he was freed per Texans prior to swimming the game for the team. He was signed off release to the Carolina Panthers in 2002. He played mostly in special teams for the Panthers, and was section of the unit that ranked fifth within the NFL in 2003. He was freed per Panthers, & was signed to the Redskins in April 6, 2005.
